Our Commitment to This Community
For the Windermere Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses, community service is not a program or a campaign — it is an expression of genuine Christian love woven into the fabric of daily life. Our members do not wait for organized events to serve their neighbours. Throughout the year, individuals and families quietly assist those around them, whether that means helping an elderly resident with yard maintenance, driving a neighbour to a medical appointment, or offering a listening ear to someone struggling with loneliness or grief. We believe that love of neighbour is inseparable from love of God, and this conviction shapes everything we do in the Windermere and Terwillegar Common area of Edmonton.
Our congregation's service extends far beyond Southwest Edmonton. As part of the worldwide organization of Jehovah's Witnesses, our members contribute to one of the world's most effective and transparent humanitarian operations. The worldwide brotherhood of Jehovah's Witnesses maintains a global disaster relief fund that has provided emergency assistance in over 100 countries. In 2022 alone, more than $200 million USD was directed toward disaster relief efforts globally — entirely funded by voluntary contributions, with no government subsidies. This work spans everything from post-hurricane reconstruction in the Caribbean to earthquake recovery in Turkey and flood response in Southeast Asia.
Locally, our congregation pays particular attention to the needs of Edmonton's growing and diverse population. From helping elderly neighbours navigate daily challenges to supporting newcomers to Canada who are settling into life in Edmonton, our members serve where the need is greatest. We make no distinction based on religion, ethnicity, or background — our assistance is available to anyone in our community who needs it. We are grateful to be a part of this neighbourhood and consider it a privilege to give back.
Our Service Initiatives

Neighbourhood Assistance
Congregation members regularly assist elderly and vulnerable neighbours in Windermere with tasks such as yard maintenance, snow removal, grocery runs, and friendly visits. This informal but organized system of neighbourly support reflects our deep belief that love of neighbour is as important as love of God — a principle that guides our actions every day of the year, not just on special occasions.
Family Support Network
Through our Family Support Network, we assist local families experiencing hardship with practical resources, encouraging visits, and connection to community services in Edmonton. We do not discriminate — our assistance is freely available to anyone in need in the Windermere and Terwillegar Common area, regardless of religious affiliation, background, or beliefs. Everyone is treated with dignity and genuine care.
Disaster Relief Contributions
As part of the worldwide organization of Jehovah's Witnesses, our congregation contributes to one of the world's most effective and well-organized disaster relief networks. When catastrophes strike — floods, earthquakes, hurricanes, wildfires — Jehovah's Witnesses mobilize rapidly to assist affected communities worldwide, providing food, shelter, emotional support, and full home rebuilding through entirely volunteer labour at no charge to recipients.
